External Venetian Blinds

Product Description

External venetian blinds offer a flexible and highly effective sun and sight screen solution and ensure optimum indoor climate and comfort - including options for blackout. External blinds can also manage glare whilst not reducing natural light transmittance.

Thermosash has partnered with Hella, an Austrian company that has vast experience and leads the market in high quality façade blinds, outdoor blinds, exterior roller shutter systems including full automation of their systems. Thermosash has sourced this product due to the very high quality of their systems, vast product range, silent operation and ability to integrate with our façade systems seamlessly.

Hella's unique engineering and design, simple fully automated or manually operated remote systems (can be operated via your smartphone) allows the heat to be reflected away from a building façade before it has to be managed internally by mechanical air conditioning plant.

Externally Mounted Venetian Blinds - are fully weatherproof and automatically lower when the light sensor detects light levels of a predetermined level. By programming or from remote operation, can fully close if desired or tilt to your preferred angle. The blinds will automatically retract when the light levels drop below this level and if wind levels exceed the design rating for the selected system. There are blinds which operate down tensioned stainless steel cables or more robust versions which slide inside a recess-able jamb track.

Encapsulated Venetian Blinds - are often installed in twin-skin curtainwalls - these units must still be externally rated blinds as they are in the 'wet zone' of a curtainwall, however due to no wind load action, the blinds can be slimmer.

Maximum Spanning Ability

Thermosash specifically engineers the best suite option for your project taking into consideration span, structural system, and environmental loads (e.g. wind). The spanning ability will vary depending on the above.

External venetian blinds can single span up to 5000mm with a single drop of 5400mm offering 24m2 of blind surface.

Performance / Testing

  • AS/NZS1170 (Structural Design Actions)
  • NZS4223 (Glazing in Buildings)
  • NZS/AS4284:2008 (Water / Air Pressure/ Air Leakage - Meets and exceeds minimum requirements)
