Laboratory Testing

Window Engineering Consultants (WEC)

Metal window, cladding and curtainwall products are high-tech design items which can be a source of continuing costly maintenance if they leak or prove not to be designed to tolerate building movement. By specifying a suite that is tested to international standards you can be sure to receive a product that will offer greater durability, with substantiated performance levels, providing piece of mind to the LBP.

WEC is a specialist, professional organisation established to offer engineering advice and undertake physical testing to International Standards and is an IANZ accredited laboratory. It can also provide systems reviews and reporting services to property owners, managers or builders in need of professional advice regarding metal windows, doors, curtainwall, glass and glazing systems or related cladding systems.

Our International Accreditation New Zealand registered window and curtainwall testing laboratory is one of the largest in Australasia and can test to New Zealand, Australian, American standards of performance. We are also equipped to carry out field tests in accordance with all AAMA testing standards, as well as WGANZ guidelines.

This facility is ideally suited to check and monitor new building projects in order to ensure that products selected are appropriate to the application and satisfactory in use, test junctions, workmanship and provide staff training opportunities as well, thus avoiding potentially costly delays to construction programs or major inconvenience to tenants due to the need to undertake remedial works after occupation of the building.

In addition to new product or project testing we also offer our expertise to review and provide technical reports on existing buildings which may have defective exterior cladding requiring appropriate and effective remedial programs. Such review may also extend to include the selection and supervision of suitably qualified tradesmen to carry out the necessary remedial work.

Our clients include commercial builders, property developers, individual owners, architects, engineers, corporate tenant groups and companies who may be involved in legal disputes requiring evidential submissions in Courts or Arbitration Chambers or due diligence reporting for selling agents to provide support information for clients in the process of buying or selling an existing building.
