IRD Building - Christchurch

Project Overview

The IRD building in Cashel Street, Christchurch was completed in 2007 prior to the 2010-2011 earthquakes. 

Subsequent to the earthquakes the building suffered some damage, and the Crown bought the building to save it from demolition.  The 8-storey vacant building was subsequently sold to a property developer in 2021, who aims to create mixed use office and retail space.

In 2024 maintenance and repairs to the facade were completed by Thermosash:

  • Replacement PW1000 Glazed Aluminium Curtainwall Corner Panels (Earthquake Damaged) incorporating:
    • Replacement repairs to Mullion Cruciform Seals from L1 to L7
    • Replacement repairs to Internal Air seals from L2 to L7 at subsill level
    • Access sashes from L2 to L6 North and South Elevations and L7 East and West
      Elevations (locking up and making good Re-aligning and Servicing 7 Sets of Paired Doors to the Ground Floor – Installed 2007)
  • Servicing of Sliding Doors to L7 – (Installed 2007)
  • Replacement Glazed Canopy
