Shopfront Facades & Doors

Key Features

Thermosash thermally broken unitised engineered aluminium systems offer exceptional thermal efficiency, as well as longevity in product life span minimising maintenance costs and maximising the return on invest on the facade of the building.

Product Description

Shopfront facades and doors are generally installed at ground / street level but can also be used internally for example in primary escape routes in a building, if correctly engineered.

Thermosash PW400-TB160 offers a thermally broken shopfront system: Thermally broken four sided mechanically glazed engaged curtainwall - both horizontal transom, and vertical mullion elements are expressed.

Mullion Size: 160mm

Doors:

Shopfront door options:

  • Side Hung with stainless steel hinges.
  • Pivot Hung on either floor springs or overhead closers.
  • Automatic sliding or pivoted these doors are automatically fitted with panic break-out, fail-safe, or automatic opening in fire alarm activation as specified.
  • Sliding doors on overhead tracking or bottom rollers.
  • Vertical lift counter weighted.
  • Total vision doors on floor springs or with patch hinges (or rails) may be used in lieu of shopfront framed doors.
  • Revolving doors: details for various types are available on request.

Furniture:

  • Unless specified otherwise, standard lock sets are fitted to all doors and with doors on closers, standard pull & push handles are fitted.
  • All types of locks can be fitted, including RFID / card controlled electronically operated locks.
  • Face mounted or integral crash rails may be fitted including Formica faced, metal faced or tiled with mosaics. Our standard crash (vision) rail is 150mm.
  • Coats of Arms, names or castings may be incorporated in all types of crash and vision rails.
  • Bespoke design handle, stainless steel tube full length handles or special handles may be requested.

Performance glass

It is important to note that the aluminium section alone does not provide the thermal performance often expected. Glass specification is a significant contributor to the overall mechanical performance requirement of a building. The larger the glass pane the better performing the panel will be on average. Thermosash has access to suppliers of low carbon high performance glazing and can deliver an integrate solution.

Engineering Custom solutions

Thermosash design and detail the facade solution to meet project demand for seismic risk, wind loads, climate zones, corrosion zones and building importance levels as well as aesthetics, unique site constraints and budgetary requirements. We have extensive experience in integrating our systems and products to deliver a total facade solution.

Low carbon aluminium - specify Thermosash DecarbalTM

Our Thermosash DecarbalTM aluminium achieves a very low carbon footprint that significantly outperforms readily available local & global alternatives - offering reduced upfront carbon emissions that positively contribute to sustainability project goals. For up-to-date carbon figures please contact us. Find out more about our Sustainable Aluminium.

Unitised pre-fabrication

Our systems are prefabricated and glazed at our manufacturing facilities (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) and can be transported for just-in-time site delivery. Due to prefabrication and the unitised modular design of our products and systems our highly skilled installation teams can close in buildings rapidly saving on programme time and mitigate follow on trade risk.

We can also engineer and install Total Vision Systems utilising structural glass assemblies, which can offer the appearance of a low-profile transparent suite, lending itself to accessible entrances which require low thresholds at the door openings.

Performance / Testing

Thermosash owns and operates the largest façade testing facility in New Zealand where we test our systems and custom designed suites to ensure compliance with the below codes or project specific requirements:

  • AS/NZS1170 (Structural Design Actions)
  • NZS4223 (Glazing in Buildings)
  • NZS/AS4284:2008 (Water / Air Pressure/ Air Leakage - Meets and exceeds minimum requirements)

All the Thermosash suites are independently laboratory tested to IANZ (International Accreditation New Zealand). Test certificates are available on request.

Warranty

The standard warranty is 10 years from the date of practical completion for these products. This covers workmanship and weather tightness, providing the subcontract includes fabrication, installation and glazing of all components, and the maintenance schedule is adhered to.

Maintenance

Maintaining glass, metals and stone are all particular to the environment that they are placed in: eg. marine, environmental pollution, exposure to natural washing, etc.

It is recommended by almost all material suppliers that building washing should occur every 3-6 months to prevent staining to glass and prevent environmental pollutants from corroding metals and to maintain the material warranties.

A full maintenance manual is provided on completion of a project for all the elements integrated within a project. Compliance to a maintenance schedule is essential to maintaining the quality of the installed product over time. Using Thermosash-approved facade maintenance contractor/personnel ensures the highest standards are met.

Thermosash Service and Maintenance provide professional services on commercial building facades for warranty compliance, inspections, advice, and repairs.
