The Otago Polytechnic's Trades Training building, He Toki Kai Te Rika, was completed in September 2023. The building reflects the cultural and sustainability architecture for a Living Campus based on the Living Building Challenge design framework. This campus is the 11th in the world to register as a Living Community.  The target strategy was to minimise the footprint on the environment and create a vibrant healthy space for learning and research.
